This artwork was inspired by the 2018 NAIDOC theme: Because of Her, We Can.
The main feature in this artwork is a silhouette of an Aboriginal woman. She represents the countless and invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made, and continue to make, to our communities, our families, our rich history, and to our nation.
The woman in this artwork is exposed, adorned with traditional body art, as she draws her strength, courage, wisdom and beauty from the Elders who have come before her.
Surrounding her are countless group of circles in pinks and blues to represent the thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have paved the way for future generations.  

Specifications

This artwork was painted using acrylic paints on canvas. The canvas has been attached to an acid-free board using acid-free glue, and then framed in a beautiful Tasmanian oak timber floating frame. The assembly is completed with framers tape and is strung ready to hang.

All artwork is made and custom framed on Dharawal Country.
